The Saga of Sage is one of the first Metaverse-music projects that will allow a global audience to engage with a metaverse concert, both with and without VR-glasses. This opens an unprecedented audience potential. Each mission in the series is created with a new guest visual and musical artist. Mission 1: Defrost is part of the overarching transmedia project The Saga of Sage. Sage’s explorations are told through the graphic novel series Exoplanets, the intergalactic radio station Utopia and the virtual concert series The Missions (in co-production with WeMakeVR).
Mission 1:
Defrost
A dome on a frozen planet. 12 passengers. A pulsating sound, an invitation to explore movement while the ice seems to start melting. The music grows as we dive into an experience that makes us wonder how we process the things we live through, how we let go of what needs to go. All the while melting and melting and melting, in movement and sound. We tell the story of Sage: a recollection of experiences, sketches of memories of a journey in search of home. Mission 1: Defrost is a 15 minute immersive virtual concert taking place in the metaverse. It is the (re-)telling of a story, as well as a musical experience using innovative multi-user VR technology. Every mission is a new planet, a new concert, as we follow in the footsteps of the elusive Sage. In this first mission we travel through a frozen world, accompanied by music of the Berlin-based band Brandt Brauer Frick. The planet tells us of loss, of mourning and of letting go. Mission 1: Defrost is an embodied experience that brings us as close as we can get to Sage’s explorations of what it means to belong, to be human in an ever changing world where the feeling of what home is becomes more and more unfathomable.
